Since 1998, Esmeralda Ecuador has been part of the Flower Label Program (FLP) - an organization that sets standards of human rights and environmental protection for flower farms throughout the world. Initiated by human rights organizations, trade unions and the flower trade, the FLP serves to ensure:

		Freedom of association (the freedom for workers to form trade unions)
		Prohibition of child labor and forced labor
		Proper employment contracts & above-average social/working conditions
		Health safeguards and a secure working environment
		Responsible attitude towards natural resources and the environment
		Non-use of toxic pesticides and chemicals
