Our Colombian farms are certified by VeriFlora™ and Florverde®. Established in 2005, the VeriFlora™ standard establishes procedures for verifying agricultural production practices employed by flower production operations and verifies that they meet the required protocols to protect the integrity of certified floral products throughout the chain-of-custody.

Since 1998, Esmeralda Ecuador has been part of the Flower Label Program (FLP) - an organization that sets standards of human rights and environmental protection for flower farms throughout the world. Initiated by human rights organizations, trade unions and the flower trade, the FLP serves to ensure that the standards for farm workers are improved.
Florverde® is an internationally recognized program created by Colombian Association of Flower Exporters. This organization was established in Colombia in 1996 to better the social and environmental conditions of the Colombian Flower Industry by continuously striving to achieve the highest standards at the farms and for its workers on multiple levels.
FlorEcuador is the socio-environmental program of Expoflores, the Ecuador’s National Association of Flower Producers and Exporters, which promotes social responsibility, improves working conditions of flower growers, seeks sustainable production with optimal resource and energy management and increases the use of biological and alternative pesticides.
FlorEcuador® is moving the Ecuadorian floriculture industry toward fulfilling the requirements of existing environmental and social certifications of other countries.
Everyday, Esmeralda Farms is working towards total Biological Control.
Esmeralda uses minimal quantities of pesticides to grow its premium flowers. Only chemicals certified and approved for use by the EPA, FLP and Florverde are used on our products. Oftentimes, a visible film builds up on the leaf surface with excessive use of chemicals which is very unsightly, reduces vase life, and can be harmful to humans and pets. Esmeralda flowers do not have any visible residue. Our foliage is healthy, clean, and possesses a shiny, green color.
